Five Big Brand Videos Going Viral Right Now

It can be hard to keep up with branded viral video when you’re busy keeping up with kittens and crazy twerking vids. So in case you’ve missed them, here are five big brand videos that are currently burning up the social shares charts.

Carrie Coffee Shop Chaos

If you missed this one, you might be living under a rock because it’s been getting press everywhere from Yahoo news feeds to Good Morning America. As a promotion for the new feature-film remake of Stephen King’s “Carrie,” this amazing stunt went viral in no time flat.

It starts off as a simple accident in a coffee shop. We’ve all been there. But then all you-know-what breaks loose. Already one of the top 10 ads of the year, the ad has generated more than 1.5 million shares and 30 million views ahead of the film’s release on October 18.

Girls Don’t Poop

A potty mouth will get you everywhere, it seems. In this ad for something called “PooPourri,” a dainty woman with a British accent sits on a toilet and walks us through the finer points of female potty habits. It’s gross – and hilarious. It was produced by the guy who made tongue scrapers go viral, so there might be a reason this video had the special sauce to gain traction. This currently isn’t a big brand, but a few more videos like this are sure to make “PooPourri” a household name.

Ron Burgundy. A Horse. A Dodge. Magic.

Chrysler has tapped Will Ferrell’s beloved Ron Burgundy character to hype the Dodge Durango as a cross-promotion for Anchorman 2. There really isn’t anything that Ron Burgundy says that isn’t hilarious, so they’ve managed to strike a bit of gold, here. This is an entire series of commercials, but the staring contest with the horse is our current favorite and fastest-growing in terms of shares and views.

A Firefighter Saves A Kitten

This is a real video shot on a GoPro camera of a fireman resuscitating a badly injured kitten after a fire. Through a hazy lens, the audience watches in anticipation as the a kitten is picked up and carried outside of a burning building. The efforts that this firefighter took to save the kitten are pretty amazing and illustrate the GoPro “Be a Hero” mantra.

Kate Upton, Snoop, and Hot Pockets

Are we still calling Snoop Dogg Snoop Lion? Regardless, he’s dropping beats with model Kate Upton to promote Hot Pockets. In a video that could only be dreamed up by people who partake of Snoop’s favorite green, leafy plant, he raps about baking. A lot of baking. Of crusts, of course. And it’s all to the tune of that beloved hit from the late 1980’s “Just a Friend” by Biz Markie. We’re still not sure if this big brand video is actually good, but it’s rapidly racking up views and shares online.

What Are These Big Brand Videos Getting Right?

There are a variety of reasons these particular big brand videos have scored big. Some landed beloved celebrities. Others go for the old tug-of-the-heartstrings. And of course, there’s potty humor. But all of them strive to connect with their audience at a deeper level, even if that “deep” level is satisfying an attack of the munchies. Each of these brands sought out a way to connect with their customers and scored big.

Which big brand videos are your favorite? Are there any climbing the charts today that we’ve missed?
